“Unmasking Empire” with Glen Ford

RPLogoThis week Eric sits down with journalist and commentator Glen Ford to discuss a number of key political and geopolitical issues. Eric and Glen examine the ongoing political theater surrounding the Benghazi attacks, providing their analysis of the real story that is being suppressed. They also provide their analysis of US imperialism in Africa, using Libya as a starting point, expanding the discussion to include other parts of the continent. Additionally, Glen presents his perspective on the continuing imperialist aggression against Syria and the possible motivations for the US. In the second part of the interview, Eric and Glen shift to focus on domestic issues, with particular attention to Obama's complete disregard and contempt for the Black community. Glen explains how the first black president has effectively criminalized black liberation ideology and used the power of the police state and corporate media machine to suppress dissent. All this and much more...

Glen Ford is the Executive Editor of Black Agenda Report. He has spent more than 40 years as a journalist and activist, documenting and speaking out against racism, injustice, and imperialism. 1. Eric,

I hope that you will read the following as constructive criticism and not some kind of personal attack. I really like your shows, but am beginning to be very puzzled by your lack of attention to the following points.

At this point, I can only conclude that you have not even listened to Sibel’s interviews by Corbett, regarding Gladio Plan B/Phase II. Instead, you are content to continue to live in a world of speculation and ultimately blowback-oriented reasoning.

Sibel’s direct knowledge of real evidence, regarding the creation, funding, and control of radical Islam, was the principle reason for her gagging, via the State Secrets Privilege. Examples:

She tells us about the institutionalization of this through the Pentagon and NATO.
The funding through the opium trade and misappropriation of taxpayer money.
The infrastructure of over 350 mosques and madrasas, which we use to radicalize muslims, via Fetulah Gulen.
The orchestration through known meetings with Zawahiri and high level US officials.
The continued relationship with bin Laden and Zawahiri months after 9/11.

When you stop and consider just how much she has sacrificed to bring this evidence to us, you might even consider your decision to ignore requests to reference this material as borderline disrespectful.

This interview was trampling all over the topic (“good al qaeda/bad al qaeda, etc.), lumbering along with an attitude of pride in the ability to make educated guesses. I am so disappointed that I wasn’t able to respect the conversation as much as I wanted to. Because I have heard Sibel’s testimony and I could tell that you haven’t. Or, at least that’s the only conclusion at which I can arrive.

I hope that you will take the time to hear what she has to say. It is the most important disclosure, to date, for our understanding of American/NATO imperialism. These disclosures need to be a part of the discussion, and they need to be announced far and wide, starting with the guests on BFP shows, when they are discussing relevant issues. Yes, it’s that important.

I apologize for my repeated comments about this, for the last several episodes of your show. I hope I can leave it here.

Previous episodes of the Gladio interview series: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI.

Just search Boiling Frogs Post for “gladio”.

  2. EDraitser says:

Thanks for the comment. Allow me to make a few points.

    1. I did not see any of your previous comments as I have not checked the comments on my episodes in a few weeks. I definitely should check them every week but I get very busy and it slips my mind. So, I apologize for that.

    2. I appreciate your criticisms but I would caution you against using words like “disrespectful” when referring to my attitude toward Sibel. I love Sibel and her work, I even thought it incumbent that I defend her and BFP against Tarpley’s attack.

    3. If you think I don’t publicize BFP and the Gladio series, I would point you to the concluding segment of my podcast published this week on I implore all of my listeners to become part of Boiling Frogs and explain to them the absolute necessity of watching the Gladio series to inform your understanding of terrorism, Al Qaeda, Central Asia, etc.

    4. In the course of conversation, I sometimes forget to bring up things I intend to. More to the point, there are time constraints with each guest which put the clock and my long list of questions at the forefront of my mind, rather than thinking about all the other things I would bring up. You are correct that I should have brought up some of the information from the Gladio series but I did not. For you to read that as a sleight to Sibel, I find a bit insulting.

    5. I publicize BFP as much as anybody. I post free previews of each episode on my site to entice people to visit BFP. I implore my listeners to become subscribers of BFP and not to accept the illusion that it is a purely right wing ideological site which is how many perceive it.

    6. I understand your desire to spread the word about Gladio, I appreciate that it comes from a good place. However, please don’t translate that fervor into a condemnation as I think it is unwarranted.

    7. I have watched some, not all, of the Gladio series, the first 2 parts to be precise. I’m happy that it is 6 hours worth of good content…but, between my job, podcasts, site, writing, and my “normal” life, I am perpetually strapped for time. Naturally, I intend to watch the last 4 parts when I can.

Finally, as I said already, I appreciate your comments and thank you for them. You are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to disagree with it. Some points you make are valid, I believe others are not. This is healthy, that is, if it is constructive.

  3. Hi Eric,

Thanks for the response. I apologize for insulting you. I think I was starting to feel like I was in an echo chamber all by myself. My sentiment was out of frustration that this information is not driving more of the conversation with the facts it discloses. Not just with you, of course.

I do appreciate your work and your perspective. I trust that you are coming from a good place as well and I have seen you promote and defend Sibel. I think, now that I know that my criticism was heard, it will stop echoing. I will try to reflect on my communication mistakes.

    Thanks again.

  4. EDraitser says:

Thank you. Likewise, I will reflect on my own practice. I agree with you that the Gladio information should be focused on more prominently. I will attempt to incorporate it more into my conversations where appropriate.
