DisInfoWars with Tom Secker: Delving Deeper- What Happened in Paris?

The Friday the 13th massacre in Paris was the worst attack in Western Europe since Madrid in 2004, leaving well over a hundred people dead. Responsibility has been claimed by the Islamic State and French leader François Hollande has promised 'merciless' retribution.

In this episode I look at the context of the terror in Paris, offering a comparison with Mumbai in 2008 where Islamist militants carried out a very similar attack under the guidance of American spy David Headley. I also examine some of the questions that have already emerged: about the fake passport of a Syrian refugee found at one of the bomb sites; about possible foreknowledge on the part of the French security services; and about a little-reported bomb threat hours before the attacks that led to the evacuation of one of Paris' major train stations.

  1. CuChulainn says:

in France it is still possible for a real criminologist to talk at length on television and point out some incoherences of the ISIS/Daesh narrative

    • Do feel free to summarize/translate any of the French commentary, s’il vous plaît!

    • Sad that the craven Western press won’t touch on the key players of these events: those like Headley or Graham E. Fuller, or even Mohammed Atta.

    • “TV Libertés” is not exactly mainstream is it? Anyway here’s a summary of the criminologist’s points (nobody seems to have thought of taking the man’s coat off..)

      – Looking back at a sequence of terror attacks in France, there’s an exponential growth in nr of victims.
      – Perpetrators have a common profile: They all have a track record of serious criminality.
      – There’s probably a record of traces left of the preparations for this attack that the authorities should have picked up but didn’t.
      – Bombay attacks had Pakistani help, I don’t know if ISIS has the means to prepare an attack like this one.
      – ISIS is a strange creature:
      – It has more weapons than any previously known terror group.
      – It doesn’t retreat after attacking, but rather occupies territory.
So rather than being a terror group, or a guerilla army, it’s actually a mercenary army.
      – Question is: WHO’s mercenary army? Does ISIS determine it’s own direction, or is there a dark entity in the shadows directing all this?
      – Syria is in a chaotic situation, anybody can obtain passports. Finding one proves nothing.
      – Claims of responsibility done after a terror attack have no value: Anybody can make such a claim, and in particular hackers can make a website publish whatever they want.
      – A study found that the 50 top leaders [not Baghdadi] of ISIS are not islamists. Their biographies were analyzed, they tend to have been worldly generals of Saddam Hussein, or to have fought in Afghanistan, be known from extremist websites, but their biographies show them not to be Islamists.
[Note: I Olivier haven’t found that study, doesn’t anybody know what he’s talking about?]
      – You don’t build a suicide belt with info found on the internet.
      – You go to the doctor to get a diagnosis and a treatment that fits it. In this case there’s a treatment but no diagnosis. Intelligence services keep away from the fact that these terrorists also have criminal records. Criminals are too lowly for them, they want to go after Russian spies, or white horse-type Bin Laden figures.
      – There is symbolic utility in declaring the state of emergency, but it’s not going to help solve this issue.
      – It’s good to have named a enemy, but this enemy ISIS is not well defined enough. The gov should demand from their intel services that they indicate more clearly what’s going on.

  2. Nothing much to add, only a few observations.
First being the passport. This is almost becoming cliché. When did this trend start? My memory only goes back to 9/11 and the impervious passports. Though that was really over the top with conveniently left behind luggage containing an complete confession, bandanas and vans with qurans and flight manuals in the glove compartment. There is such a thing as overdoing it.
Anyway, this is quite accepted by the public. For our convenience terrorists carry passports and documents when they do an operation and so within hours the media is able to pinpoint the culprit. Like with the charlie hebdo attacks the ID left in the getaway car assured us the police got, although now dead, the true perpetrators.
This one comes with a twist. It’s a fake passport and the media is making damn sure we are all aware of this fact. “We now go to our correspondent in Paris. We understand it was a fake passport, can you confirm it was a fake passport? – Yes indeed, it was a very, very fake passport. Although appearing to be genuine and closer inspection it is now known it was in reality a fake passport” and so on.
What’s the point? Obviously this links it directly to the “refugee crisis”, the influx of great numbers of migrants. The MSM for months has been going on about how IS and other groups could and would slip in operatives hiding amung the refugees. Reports about migrants who ditched their ID’s to obfuscate their country of origin, others buying fake Syrian passes. So the narrative was prepared and finding a fake pass cements it.
Secondly the effect I see in my surroundings. Basically the prevalent mood can be summed up as “Bomb the Middle East into oblivion.” And to keep matters simple, if this is a false flag operation I’d say this would be the objective. Erase popular opposition to military intervention.

  3. wallace gromit says:

I have to say that I don’t agree with this stuff at all being used to target the left, I see it far more as targeting the political right, specifically in the west.

things like 4chan, ilbe in korea, anonymous, the whole merc/revolutionary/nonstate soldier era… it serves to redirect disenfranchised young and able men. I could go on at great length but just comparing discourse on, say, 4chan’s /pol/ to political left twitter convos is pretty revealing. to say nothing of the ‘achievements’ of conservative minded actors in the last 10 years vs the lackthereof by left wing aligned actors.

the left wing was destroyed with the original strategy in the post war era with OG, stay behinds etc.

gladio B moved the strategy onto developing markets, pushing onwards w lessons learned by partly using religion to great effect to help topple USSR.

gladio C, or what we’re in now, is bringing the strategy full circle, back to us, to destroy belief in general. annihilate faith in anything.

    • “gladio C, or what we’re in now, is bringing the strategy full circle, back to us, to destroy belief in general. annihilate faith in anything.

Good point, replacing the true sacred (God, whatever one’s conception) with a false sacred myth (fighting terrorists and defending democracy, i.e., unfettered capitalism). Relentless.

    • @wallace

“I have to say that I don’t agree with this stuff at all being used to target the left,”

Not even when people openly advocate hanging leftist politicians for treason? In all the anger, fear and hysteria the left is being blamed for multiculturalism, open borders and the large influx of migrants over the past 2 or 3 decades.
Traditionally the left in Europe were the watchdogs for civil rights. So when the law grants certain rights to refugees it were the leftist parties who stood up for those rights. If European law says freedom of religion, it’s been the left that opposed anti-Islam measures. Now the masses are searching for a scapegoat they lazily blame the traditional leftists but in reality these policies (multiculturalism, open borders etc.) don’t originate from the left. These are globalist policies. Even before there was a formal European government all countries already adopted the same policies. Gleichschaltung. No matter what national government, left right or center was in power. But similar to Breivik many people now believe the left has introduced cultural Marxism and this is the root cause of all their trouble. So Europe politically is probably going to sway to the right, straight into the welcoming hands of the anti-Islam neocons (warmachine) and the agents of corporatocracy (just in time for TTIP). It’s why I loathe the left/right paradigm. The general (and incredibly clueless) population is so easily manipulated. You’d think after the looting by the rich (austerity) and the disastrous interventions (which is arguably a real cause for the refugee crisis) they would have had enough. Instead they come back for more. And even though in their stupidity they flock towards the very parties who sold them down the river earlier, in all honesty it doesn’t really matter who they vote. All sides of the political establishment will protect the status quo and are subject to the corpo-globalist imperial agenda. The European nations are nothing but vassals of the great American Empire.

  4. Great job (as always), Tom. We’ve had 1000+ download so far!

  5. doublek321 says:

For what it’s worth, I’ve already read one person (I think on ZeroHedge comments) saying that the passport was left because the bomber wanted to be identified (sort of as a “I’m taking credit for this attack”). I know the passport has been called a fake but I’m just pointing this out to show that people will come up w/ a lot of theories to defend their beliefs. I guess it can be considered plausible. To me, however, I immediately thought of the 9/11 passport (which made no sense as it had to have been in the plane which supposedly disintegrated on contact).

  6. doublek321 says:

I don’t remember what led me to just check Alexa.com (to view website popularity rankings). BFP is ranked 147,249 in the USA. What’s interesting though is that it’s also kind of popular in Germany (13.4% of its traffic is from Germany).

  7. This gets so f-ing old. There has got to be a way to get recording of the meetings and such they have to plan this type of crap.

Out of all the things in the world there are to hack, none of the hackers ever goes after that stuff. There have to be lines of communications to tap into somehow.

  8. On-going tragedy

  9. Is it just me or does the Maths of 8 guys covering that much geography while stopping to slaughter in the allotted time, not add up? Head counts…timelines…

I would have thought the Russians were due more payback, given their recent accurate efforts. I can’t imagine why they didn’t spring this sh*t on them……too expensive to drive a hire car that far?

Putin’s long-suffering expression at the G20 says it all.

  10. My favorite irony so far is some of my Republican friends (yeah, I have some) openly pining for Reagan as the example of how to deal with terrorism. How does one begin?

  11. Gary Binmore says:

16 things that always materialize when needed:

    1. Wild-eyed males aged 18-35 who look crazy enough to try fire-breathing after swallowing a gallon of kerosene.

    2. Fireproof, indelible, indestructible passports belonging to the above.

    3. Dynamite belts, explosives, assault rifles etc. appearing in the hands of criminally insane embeciles

    4. Claims of responsibility from criminally insane embeciles.

    5. Solemn expressions of solidarity from the Obama-Hilary-Cameron-Netanyahu creature (a single entity).

    6. Jabbering, crazy-looking Muslim clerics with beards that could be sedated raccoons.

    7. Solemn commentaries from leftists going on about blowback etc.

    8. Neocons popping up like a plague of mushrooms as they rage about war.

    9. Robotic reporters with fully charged batteries all programmed to say the same things.

    10. Fleets of shiny new Toyota 4 wheel drives.

    11. Sinister-looking black flags and bandanas.

    12. Unbelievably incompetent intelligence and law enforcement officials.

    13. Evidence with a propensity for passing unnoticed into another dimension.

    14. Pentagon officials who say that a military capable of blowing up the Moon can’t take out a bunch of medieval religious fanatics marauding through a desert.

    15. Talking heads who blame everything on Putin and Russia.

    16. Ordinary-looking people expressing paralysing fear of terrorists and life in general.

    • Well compiled – but you left out 17. Coincidence. “Luckily we were running drills for the exact same scenario – miracle!’ Or ‘unluckily we were running drills for the exact same scenario – confusion!’

      • Gary Binmore says:

        You are 100% right.

And I was reading Webster Tarpley on the 40+ drills of 9/11 only hours earlier.

I suppose we should have some admiration for the psychopaths who orchestrate these extravaganzas of terror – it takes some ability to organize all these inputs.

  12. The design goals of contemporary terrorism are accumulation of power by the State and accumulation of wealth by those who control the State. This “ISIS” mercenary army is the most blatantly-contrived and cynical instrument of State policy I can recall seeing in my many years.

Now we can only await inevitable new tyrannical outrages soon to be inflicted on the French and other EU populations, in the name of their “safety”.

  13. I was just watching a Press TV report interviewing Pepe Escobar and Eric Draitser, and Pepe noted one eye witness report that one of the shooters, who was not wearing a ‘suicide belt’, was executing people with remarkably professional accuracy and dispassionate demeanor. One of my ‘false flag indicators’ is to ask, Were ANY top elites or leaders of the political class attacked and/or killed? It’s not definitive proof, of course, but these targets in Paris can hardly be considered collaborators either. The quick conviction by media and immediate bombing in Syria ahead of a real investigation tells us a lot more.

    • Pepe has made some very good observations about the three different teams involved in Paris. He divides them into the “expendables” — the suckers in the suicide vests — the “somewhat expendables” — fairly well trained gunmen, no suicide vests, I believe mostly taken down in the end — and the “not expendables”. The latter group arrived in a black Mercedes. They were white, muscular, professional kit, calm and efficient, and drove away. Not sure of his sources but he says there are quite a few witnesses, but this part doesn’t seem to be making much of a splash in the mainstream news coverage. Find that Mercedes and you might be onto something.

  14. Hollande. Extension of ‘state of emergency’. Borders closed. “Fight Against ISIS Demands Constitutional Changes”…
“The only benefactor of the Paris attack is the Western political establishment and Washington’s goal of unseating Assad in Syria. The Paris attack has removed the threat to the French, German, and British political establishments from the National Front, Pegida, and the UK Independence Party. The Paris attack has removed the threat to the US political establishment from Trump and Sanders. The Paris attack has advanced Washington’s goal of removing Assad from power. The answer to the Roman question, “cui bono,” is clear.
But don’t expect to hear it from the Western media.” paulcraigroberts [.org]
    “Paris changes everything” [Merkle]
We are sure it does. As everyone on the farm knows. You want to shift the stock? First open the gate.
    Then let the dogs loose.

  15. 1) They’re going to use it to crack down against constitutional rights.

    2) They’re going to use it to crack down against encryption and any right to privacy.

    3) It looks very much like they are trying to start a race war. Black live matter is saying “fuck Paris”.
Add the hatred for middle easterners being pushed now that states are rejecting refugees, with the black
lives matter crap, and that is the direction this is heads. Are these immigrant rape stories and whatnot legit? I recall seeing something about a vid that was used to disparage immigrants being years old and and entirely misrepresented used a while back. They are spouting out conspiracy theories about cops hiding the rapes and stuff. Where will that lead?

What would be the point in a race war? The more I look at this crap, all the lies, and all the corruption, infiltrating every facet of life, and every institution, the more I start to wonder if there is a real evil, not concerned with much other than the joy of inflicting misery.

See that for some comments from the CIA’s Brennan.

    • 3) It looks very much like they are trying to start a race war. Black live matter is saying “fuck Paris”. […] What would be the point in a race war?

It’s all divide and rule. Look at the slogan “Black lives matter”. If these people for one minute would stop and think how divisive such a motto is.. but they can’t or they wont. Imagine MLK using such a slogan instead of Civil Rights Movement.. He would have had no following and no one today would have heard of him. We must have dropped some serious IQ points since then.
Here in Europe fifteen odd years of propaganda has shrunk the entire cosmos and the complexities of hundreds of millions humans interacting into one word: Islam. However different the situation between the US and Europe, in this respect the population is equally ignorant. We now too have people attacking Sikh believing they are Muslims. In the minds of the general population all refugees and migrants are Muslims too. All carefully and I must say skillfully engineered. All the discontent regarding refugees and migrants is funneled into Islamophobia. Those are potent forces they’ve harnessed. However hot an issue in the US, in Europe the migrant issue is multitudes more intense. This is native land. The US is not. It’s a fundamental difference. By harnessing these deeply felt emotions of fear, uncertainty, anger, frustration of Europeans, directing them towards a single cause and enemy (Islam and Muslims) they’ve eroded opposition against the imperial agenda. The attacks in Paris serve as little boosters to speed this process up. No race war, just pitting people against each other in such a manner they unwittingly become pawns and stooges for an alien agenda.

  16. Reading more Pepe Escobar. An interesting mix of things that make sense to me and things that don’t. What do you all think?

    There’s this:
“Daesh is virtually a state oil major; Deir Ezzor province produces up to 40,000 barrels of oil a day, and other wells produce up to an extra 17,000 barrels. Daesh sells them to “independent traders”, aka smugglers, for up to $45 a barrel. As much as pumping oil is a key source of Daesh’s budget, still, technically, the fake “Caliphate” is profiting from an (aging) state infrastructure that ultimately belongs to the Syrian nation. To really hit Daesh where it hurts France — and the US and Britain — would need to rely on what they don’t have; top intel on the ground, not mere air strikes.”

Now…am I the only one who can’t quite believe that US intelligence is helpless to a) deny oil to Daesh/ISIS/ISIL or b) understand and act on who is buying it? This is quite a bit of oil moving through the markets. Escobar is saying France, the US, and Britain just have no idea what’s going on? Is that even remotely plausible?

Maybe I’ll stop there. That’s enough of a question.

  17. http://www.voltairenet.org/article188380.html
“”Apart from that, according to the spokesman for the CHP (Socialist party), Gürsel Tekin, the crude oil stolen by Daesh is now being exported by BMZ Ltd, the maritime company of Bilal Erdoğan, the son of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in violation of resolution 2170 of the United Nations Security Council [3].””

  18. Here’s where I think Pepe is on to something:

“The heart of the matter is the drive-by team. Or “teams”. The investigation seems to be clueless about them. The killers at La Belle Équipe arrived on a black Mercedes, according to witnesses. There is no mention of this Mercedes anywhere. The killers were ultra-pro, muscular, methodical – and white.”

“These are the non-expendables. The high-priced mercenaries. While the whole media circus spreads from Grenoble and Toulouse to Brussels and even Raqqa, they have simply vanished without a trace. No one knows who they are. No one knows who hired them. Hardly social network jihadi al-Baljiki.”

  19. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/paris-attack-witness-says-black-6834503
“”Mr Admo, 26, who was staying at the Salvation Army hostel in Rue de Charonne opposite the Le Belle Equipe, told how gunmen executed patrons in a drive-by attack.
Trembling as he recalled how the massacre unfolded, he said: “I was just in my room and had the window open on to the street below.
“I could see lots people sat outside the bar eating dinner and enjoying a drink. The place was full of people just enjoying themselves.
“At about 9.30pm a new looking black Mercedes pulled up outside with dark tinted windows at the back and the passenger and driver windows down. I could clearly see the passenger’s face as he was not wearing a hat or mask.
“As soon as the car stopped he quietly opened the door and got out in front of the restaurant.
“That is when I saw he was holding a machine gun that was resting on his hip. I could not take in what I was witnessing.
“People outside spotted the shooter approaching with his gun and tried to run inside but he shot them down in the doorway.
“Then people inside moved forward to see what was happening and he sprayed more bullets into them. I was trying to catch them on my camera phone but the gunman saw the light on my mobile and I ducked down behind the wall as they fired at my hotel. The gunman calmly reloaded his weapon several times. He then shot up at the windows in the street to make sure nobody was filming anything or taking photographs. It lasted over six minutes
“He fired lots of bullets. He was white, clean shaven and had dark hair neatly trimmed. He was dressed all in black accept for a red scarf.
“The shooter was aged about 35 and had an extremely muscular build, which you could tell from the size of his arms. He looked like a weightlifter.
“He was not wearing gloves and his face was expressionless as he walked towards the bar.
“The driver had opened his door shortly before the shooting began and stood up with his arm and a machine gun rested on the roof of the car. He stood there with his foot up in the door acting as a lookout.
“I would describe him as tall, with dark hair and also quite muscular.
“They looked like soldiers or mercenaries and carried the whole thing out like a military operation. It was clear that they were both very heavily armed and the gunman was carrying several magazines on him.
“They both then coolly sat back in the car and sped off in the direction of the Bataclan Theatre.””

    • Yeah, and that is the only account of the black Mercedes I’ve found in any newspaper so far. Not saying it’s the only one there is. I’ve seen references to that account in other news sites, but they were news feed compilers, just echo chambers. But I wonder if that’s also Pepe Escobar’s source. Pepe mentions witnesses — plural — but the Mirror article cites only one: Mr Admo. I wonder if he managed to get any photo or video at all. And I wonder if there are any other witnesses who saw a black Mercedes.

I’m trying to picture the scene from his point of view. He tries to take video; the shooters notice the light from his phone and shoot at him; he ducks behind a wall. And then proceeds to provide an amazingly detailed description of the perpetrators, their equipment, and the scene. Presumably he made most of his observations before ducking behind the wall.

I have an innate aversion to single-sourced stories. I know sometimes it’s the best we can do. But corroboration is good. Anybody seen anything else about a black Mercedes?

  20. It is funny how we can surveil everything BUT these types of events. It would have been nice to have searchable pics of their faces. Of course, they could have been wearing masks, which could help account for a cool look. More likely they were just psychopaths though. Why is it that with all the video equipment people carry nowadays that they can never get any damned video of this crap?

  21. Oh, and they are saying the attacks were planned on PS 4. If anything the PS 4 is more of a spy device than you PC is. So, WTF? I mean, really?

  22. Sorry I don’t have time to respond to individual comments right now but I just wanted to say I’m heartened by the response to this episode and the contributions you’ve all made to the discussion. A lot of what you’ve said is very much in my thoughts and I’m working on finding out some more information on some of these angles and questions.

  23. 2goodponies says:

Jewish owners recently sold Paris’s Bataclan theater, where IS killed dozens http://www.timesofisrael.com/jewish-owners-recently-sold-pariss-bataclan-theater-where-is-killed-dozens/

  24. 2goodponies says:

    Threats for Pro-Israel activities[edit]
For 40 years, Bataclan had Jewish owners, Pascal and Joel Laloux, who sold the theatre to new owners in September 2015. The theatre was a target for anti-Zionist activists, since the venue often held pro-Israel events. One extremist group called “Army of Islam” threatened the Bataclan in 2011 because its owners were Jews.[8][9]
Pro-Palestinian activists have attacked and protested Balaclan’s association with pro-Israel activities. A video posted on YouTube shows masked pro-Palestinian militant protesters at the Balaclan in 2008 stating: “If the Bataclan and Migdal organize, as in previous years, a gala for Magav, the border police of the Israeli army, people will not take it anymore and you will pay the consequences of your actions. The next time it will not come to talk.”[10] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bataclan_(theatre)

Seems to me any Muslim terrorist group would have mentioned this in their claim regarding this venue…..

  26. Oh noez! Dar consteetution is helping terrrrrrrmarists!!!!!!!

“Homeland Security say they have no information on where the Syrian refugee is. Also, they said the refugee could not be “kept up with” because of his constitutional rights, according to a spokesman for Vitter.”

  27. I am just now listening and am at about the 6:30 mark.

    1) Keep in mind that distraction is a way of conceiling the truth. The devil may not lie in the passport, the whitey gunners, or any other thing immediately surrounding the attack. Like in the Lone Gladio, the devil may lie mostly in the motivating forces that direct the frustatuons of abused peoples into things totally antithetical to their interests. Much like the scene with tye depressed woman being manipulated into blowing up a daycare center.

    2) I am somewhat sure that some of these things a planted for the truther community to bite into, and sheer their voice from base of society’s best interest. The proper tragets to the enquiries must best aquired lest these inquiries purpose be turned in on themselves.
